2021-22 Grad Applicants

2021-22 Graduate Applicants Heading link

The Department of Sociology at the University of Illinois at Chicago has made the difficult decision to suspend admissions for the 2021-2022 academic year. This means we will not be reviewing applications this spring or accepting an incoming cohort next fall.

The Department deliberated on whether to suspend admissions for much of the semester. In the end, we decided doing so was necessary to ensure the stability of our program and the lives of the graduate students it currently serves. The Department of Sociology guarantees full funding for students in our graduate program through their fifth year. Suspending admissions enables us to extend our commitment to our students by funding them beyond that time, ensuring their livelihood and supporting their important work during these unprecedented and uncertain times.

We sincerely regret any inconvenience or hardship this may have caused those who have already applied. We invite prospective students to apply next fall for the 2022-2023 academic year and look forward to welcoming a new cohort then.
