Juan Martinez, PhD alum, accepts Assistant Professor position at Northeastern Illinois University

Juan R Martinez (UIC Sociology, PhD, 2014) recently accepted an Assistant Professor position in the Department of Sociology at Northeastern Illinois University, beginning August 2018. He will be teaching Race and Ethnicity, Sociology of Latinas, Urban Sociology, and Sociological Theory. 

Juan is currently revising his dissertation, which examines white/Latinx relations in suburban town, into a book manuscript. In addition, he is working on two articles. One examines ways to conceptualize and theorize racialized spaces in the era of racial colorblindness. The second identifies place marketing strategies realtors use to advertise housing in gentrifying neighborhoods.
