Senior capstone students present their findings to community partner, Communities in Schools of Chicago

Our newly revamped senior capstone course (SOC 490) connects sociology seniors with community partners to assist local organizations and to further the students’ sociological knowledge and skills. This fall, seniors Waarka and Enrique worked with The Communities in Schools of Chicago, which focuses on exploring student voice and what it means for adults to be “all in” for supporting students. Waarka and Enrique identified 3 areas of data collection to help with this project: 1) Content analysis of On The Table discussion notes, 2) Interviews of student support managers and specialists at schools, and 3) Focus groups of students in the InspireU program. Waarka and Enrique recently presented their findings to the staff at Communities in Schools of Chicago!
