Research interests:

Mikayla Mitchell is a doctoral student in Sociology at UIC. She holds an M.A. in Sociology also from UIC. Her primary research interests are whiteness, race, and the ways systems of oppression are co-constituted. Mikayla’s current research focuses on white racialization and how well-meaning white people make sense of their racial privilege. Mikayla has completed a concentration in Gender and Women’s studies at UIC and her research is informed by feminist methodologies and queer of color critique. Prior to starting her graduate studies, Mikayla received a B.A. in Sociology from Simmons University.
