Margaret Hagerman (PhD Emory University, 2014) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at Mississippi State University. Broadly, her research focuses on how racial ideologies, or forms of racism, are socially reproduced, reworked, and resisted by young people.
About the talk
How do white families reproduce and reinforce the forms of inequality they say they reject? This talk offers new insights on racial socialization processes in affluent, white families and considers the role that white children and families play in the reproduction of racism and racial inequality in the United States.
