Ryan Alan Sporer presented at the Annual Meeting of the Association of Humanist Sociology

Ryan Alan Sporer presented at the Annual Meeting of the Association of Humanist Sociology (AHS) held in Cuba at the Universidad de La Habana during the first week of November. He presented a paper titled “An Archeology of Circumvention as Politics" in the Environmental Oppression Panel, which was received well by audience members. (see photo below)

Key highlights from the meeting was an exclusive talk given by Mariela Castro Espín (Raúl Castro's daughter) on the work for LGBTQ rights in Cuba, a tour of one of the largest urban farm collectives in the country, a talk by esteemed Cuban intellectual Esteban Morales Domínguez on race in Cuba, and a inspirational presidential address by AHS's President Rebecca Hensley on the current state of global affairs and the role of sociologists.
