Colloquium on April 11: “The Church and the Streets: Black Sexual Minority Women in the Pre-Stonewall Era”

On Wednesday, April 11, UIC Sociology and the Institute for Research on Race and Public Policy host a colloquium featuring Mignon Moore, associate professor of sociology at Barnard College. This presentation examines the social meanings and personal experiences of homosexual behavior for black women in the pre-Stonewall, pre- Civil Rights era, and how those leanings were interpreted in their racial communities.
