The Department of Sociology is hiring a General Office Assistant for the 2018-2019 Academic Year. This student will provide the department with general office support including, but not limited to: assisting with events, answering phones, assisting with walk-up inquiries, mail distribution, campus deliveries/errands, posting fliers, maintaining cleanliness and organization of office, lounge, and storage areas, ordering and maintaining office supplies/equipment (including copy machine and printers), filing, making copies, departmental bulletin board coordination, creating spreadsheets, completing and processing forms and requisitions, assisting with inventories, and other duties as assigned.
The department is looking for someone who is motivated, extremely organized, and able to complete duties requiring independent judgment. Other qualifications include: one year of clerical experience or at least one year of university course work; basic/intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher; ability to work at least 15 hours per week during regular business hours (M-F: 8:30am - 4:30pm).
*Must be an undergraduate student (Freshman, Sophomore or Junior) with a major or minor in Sociology. Preference for students with Federal Work-Study.
