The intellectual life of UIC Sociology is evident in many ways—the people who teach and learn, the research produced, and the service to the department, discipline, and the public.  In this section we highlight some of the events, research collaborations, and opportunities that bring this vibrancy to our department:

  • We hold a regular seminar series that brings sociologists from down the hall and around the country to give research presentations.
  • We house reading groups that bring together groups of faculty and students with a shared interest.
  • We have gatherings for alumni, students, and faculty to network and reminisce.
  • We sponsor awards to recognize our exceptional researchers and teachers.  Check this page for upcoming alumni, student, and faculty events and collaborations, as well as opportunities to get involved or be recognized.
