Kelly Underman, doctoral candidate, receives Dan Dissertation Research Award
Kelly Underman won the this very prestigious,competitive, and monetary award from the UIC Center for Research on Women and Gender (CRWG) for her doctoral research entitled "Gynecological Educator Programs in Chicago: History and Current Practices." The Dan Dissertation award is named after the founding director of the CRWG and long-time faculty member in the College of Nursing, Alice J. Dan, PhD.
Doctoral candidate Kristin Abner receives 2-year Child Welfare Fellowship
Kristin Abner was one of 15 students nationwide to be selected for the Doris Duke Fellowship for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect, a two-year research fellowship.

Professor Maria Krysan, recipient of Oliver Cromwell Cox Award
Maria Krysan and several co-authors were awarded the 2012 Oliver Cromwell Cox Award from the Racial and Ethnic Minorities Section for the the best research article in the sociological study of race and ethnicity published in the past three years.
