Department of Sociology Fall 2024 Undergraduate Scholarship
The UIC Department of Sociology is pleased to announce the Department of Sociology Fall 2024 Scholarship!
Eligibility & Award Guidelines
Two undergraduate students majoring in Sociology will be selected to receive a $2,500.00 scholarship for the 2024-2025 academic year! This award is self-nominated, and applicants must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average.
The estimated scholarship award is up to $2,500.00. The final award amount and how it will be distributed will be determined by the Office of Student Financial Aid based on your unmet financial need for the 2024-2025 academic year and other relevant factors.
Upon acceptance of the scholarship, arrangements will be made to transfer the scholarship funds to your student account. You must maintain full-time enrollment and academic good standing at UIC to remain eligible for this award.
The Fall 2024 Academic Year Application Deadline is November 15, 2024
Application Submission Instructions:
- Complete the application. Must be a Sociology major or in the process of declaring Sociology as a major. Graduating seniors are eligible to apply.
- Provide your unofficial transcripts. Must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average.
- 300-500 word essay describing how your studies in sociology have influenced your view of the world and your plans for the future.
- Names of TWO UIC sociology department faculty/instructors or teaching assistants who can serve as references. One recommender should write a letter of support between 250-300 words. The letter can be emailed along with the application or sent separately to me with the subject line “Recommendation for the Undergraduate Award.”
- Email the application and letter of recommendation as a PDF to Tara Gordon-Williams at tarag@uic.edu.
- The award winners will be notified via email.
