Department of Sociology Fall 2024 Undergraduate Scholarship

 

The UIC Department of Sociology is pleased to announce the Department of Sociology Fall 2024 Scholarship!

 

Eligibility & Award Guidelines

Two undergraduate students majoring in Sociology will be selected to receive a $2,500.00 scholarship for the 2024-2025 academic year! This award is self-nominated, and applicants must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average.

The estimated scholarship award is up to $2,500.00. The final award amount and how it will be distributed will be determined by the Office of Student Financial Aid based on your unmet financial need for the 2024-2025 academic year and other relevant factors.

Upon acceptance of the scholarship, arrangements will be made to transfer the scholarship funds to your student account. You must maintain full-time enrollment and academic good standing at UIC to remain eligible for this award.

 

The Fall 2024 Academic Year Application Deadline is November 15, 2024

 

Application Submission Instructions:

 

  1. Complete the application. Must be a Sociology major or in the process of declaring Sociology as a major. Graduating seniors are eligible to apply.

 

  1. Provide your unofficial transcripts. Must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average.

 

  1. 300-500 word essay describing how your studies in sociology have influenced your view of the world and your plans for the future.

 

  1. Names of TWO UIC sociology department faculty/instructors or teaching assistants who can serve as references. One recommender should write a letter of support between 250-300 words. The letter can be emailed along with the application or sent separately to me with the subject line “Recommendation for the Undergraduate Award.”

 

  1. Email the application and letter of recommendation as a PDF to Tara Gordon-Williams at tarag@uic.edu.

 

  1. The award winners will be notified via email.
