About
Previous Degrees:
B.A. Criminal Justice and Sociology, University of Texas at El Paso
M.A. Sociology, University of Texas at El Paso
Specialty Areas:
Race and ethnicity, Latino/a sociology, immigration and Critical Race Theory.
Research interests:
I am broadly interested in race and ethnic relations and inequality. More specifically I am interested in the ways that Latino/as in the US have been racialized and the ways that this affects their relationships to each other as well as among the native born and the foreign born. In particular, I am interested in the racialization of Mexican-origin persons in the United States and their own ideas about racial identity and race.
