About

Christopher Hansen is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of Illinois Chicago. He received his PhD from Loyola University Chicago, MA from the University of Chicago, and BA from the College of William and Mary.

Dr. Hansen is a survey methodologist with special expertise in sexual and gender minority (SGM) health and population research. His research focuses on sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) measurement in the context of SGM and general population survey studies. Dr. Hansen’s recent work explores multidimensional measurement of gender, longitudinal SOGI data collection, and SOGI proxy reporting.

At UIC, Dr. Hansen teaches courses in the sociology of health and medicine; medical sociology; and sociology of the family. He has also taught courses in quantitative research methods and the sociology of sex, gender, and sexuality. Dr. Hansen’s published research appears in LGBT Health, Journal of Survey Statistics and Methodology, and Prevention Science, among other outlets.
